We took about a 5 hour river ride. Storm, our 18 year old guide was amazing. So courteous and professional with us as well as loads of fun. I was the only one who had never been on a river run, the others in our party had been at least once on the Deschutes as well as other destinations. Storm gave us great rowing and safety instructions and even though at times I was a bit nervous, Storm made me feel very comfortable and secure. Maupin is on the Deschutes River, which is gorgeous. We laughed and screamed, saw wildlife all along the river. We stopped for lunch about half way along the trip. They will provide lunch for an extra fee or you can bring your own and they provided the coolers. We also stopped where the White River joins the Deschutes and hiked up to an area where you can swim. Our party were all in our 60’s and 70’s and we all had no physical worries. At least one of the rapids was a Class 4 and was amazing, if a bit scary. So glad I braved this fun adventure and for our awesome guide. Would recommend McCoy Outdoor Outfitters to anyone.
